Kicking off the 2017 Fall Season, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall presents performances by diverse and extremely talented singer/songwriters. They are excited to host Boz Scaggs,
known for hits like “Lowdown,” “Breakdown Dead Ahead,” “Jo Jo,” “Heart of Mine,” as well as the smash “Lido Shuffle,” Randy Newman, whose work run the gamut from heartbreaking to satirical and a host of unforgettable film scores, and Rodriguez, the subject of the 2012 Oscar award-winning documentary, Searching for Sugar Man.

Knit, Purl, Knit, Purl…get ready for the cooler months with a new project or hobby! Kathleen’s Fiber Arts will be offering a 13 week Building Blocks class. Each class will focus on different stitches, culminating into bringing all the blocks together to make a beautiful Afghan. Prerequisite: must be able to knit and pearl. Pre-registration is required for material order.

Family Arduino Workshop

In this project-based workshop adults will work with aspiring young engineer/scientist “family” members
(son/daughter, niece/nephew, mentee, neighbor’s kid, etc.) to learn microcontroller basics – wiring, basic coding, soldering and design – to build and program a sensor-activated colored night light.
Preferred age: 8yrs+, Cost: $85 per two-person team includes light refreshments and all materials.

The 11th Annual Troy ChowderFest welcomes over 15,000 chowder-lovers who turn out and judge some of the best chowder in the area. Centered in Monument Square, guests purchase their tickets, explore the vendors and travel to the participating Downtown Troy restaurants distributing chowder from their establishments.
Numerous local retailers participate in the day’s activities with a citywide sidewalk sale. It’s a full day of fall food, live music, and family fun!

Dramatic Reading of Agatha Christie’s play “The Mousetrap”

September 15th marks the birthday of celebrated mystery author Agatha Christie. Christie is the author of numerous books including “Murder on the Orient Express” which is being made into a movie set to be released later this year.
In honor of this day, the Troy Public Library will be doing a dramatic reading of her popular play “The Mousetrap.” Interested participants are encouraged to select a character to read for. Copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk beginning September 1, for anyone wishing to familiarize themselves with their roles before the program. Coffee and birthday cake will be served. Registration Required.
