Just because it’s November doesn’t mean you have to hibernate!

Join the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park meetup group for free outings in the park or come to one of the park programs below to experience nature in this special time of year.

Late Autumn Events at Grafton Lakes State Park

Saturday, November 12th- Nearly Full “Super” Moon Hike from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Enjoy the big sky that the fallen leaves opened up during this 2 mile hike around picturesque Shaver Pond. Please bring a flashlight, water bottle and sturdy shoes.  Meets at Shaver Pond Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton, NY. Pre-register: 279-1155

Sunday, November 27th – Backyard Turkeys at 2pm. Ever wanted to learn more about the bird of the season? Join us at Grafton’s beach parking area for an informational program on turkeys in New York. Please wear sturdy footwear and come dressed for the weather, we’ll be taking a walk outside to look for signs of turkey in the forest. This family program is limited to 15 participants, ages 6 and up. Pre-register: 279-1155


Saturday, December 3rd — Youth Snowmobile Safety Course at 8:15am  

Held at the Grafton VFW/Fire Hall on South Road from 8:15am to approximately 5pm. The course will be taught by NYS certified volunteer instructor Jim Blessing and will cover topics such as NYS laws and regulations, riding skills, trail emergencies, protecting the environment, maintenance and repair, trailering, etc.  To register, call the Grafton Lakes State Park office at 279-1155 or e-mail Elizabeth.wagner@parks.ny.gov with the parent’s name, student’s name and age, and your phone number. RSVP by 11/30. Lunch provided. Sponsored by the Grafton Trailblazers.

Saturday, December 10th– Holiday Crafts at 10am.  Nature offers plenty of inspiration for gift making.  Join us at the park office to create something special for your loved ones.  $4/person materials fee.  Held at Park Office. Pre-register: 279-1155.

Saturday, December 17th– Holiday Treasure Hunt at 1pm. The elves have hidden some treasure in the woods, and left a map to help us find it!  Join us for an adventure. Meets at Shaver Pond Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton, NY. $2/person or $5/family. Pre-register please:279-1155
