Explore Schenectady from the Mohawk River! At Kayak Through History this summer, we’ll paddle our way upstream from The Waters Edge Lighthouse and back, passing under railroad bridges and around wild islands. The paddling will be done by you, and the learning will come from an SCHS guide, who will discuss the history of the river and its surroundings. Tours may also feature a guest expert in invasive species, birds, and river ecology.Kayaks are provided by Down by the River Kayak Rentals, thanks to a very generous grant from the Erie Canalway Heritage Corridor. Tickets are $12 and include a kayak rental. Advance registration is required at schenectadyhistorical.org/programs. Kayak Through History is offered on the following dates: Thursday, June 6 at 6pm Saturday, June 8 at 10am Thursday, June 13 at 6pm Saturday, June 15 at 10am Wednesday, July 10 at 6pm Wednesday, Aug 7 at 6pm Saturday, Sept 28 at 10am |
