Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) celebrates its 150th Anniversary of glassmaking, which began in Brooklyn. In celebration of that journey, CMoG’s GlassBarge docks at Waryas Park on the Poughkeepsie waterfront on June 8-10, offering glassblowing demos from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Up to 150 guests are welcome onboard for each 40-minute performance. It’s free, but pre-registration is required to board. In addition to the Hot Glass demos (rain or shine),Dutchess County Historical Society’s Over Here WWI exhibition will be on display. Arts-Mid-Hudson hosts Art Battles at the Park, and III Harmonix will provide the entertainment for the weekend (weather dependent).
Rhinebeck Crafts Festival is June 23 & 24
For the 6th annual Rhinebeck Crafts Festival, 200 of America’s best independent artists and craftspeople travel from more than 20 states to exhibit and sell their one-of-a-kind creations at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. Shop for jewelry; apparel and accessories; furniture and home décor pieces; functional and sculptural works in ceramics, glass, metal, wood and mixed media; fine art painting, printmaking, drawing and photography. Make sure to visit the gourmet specialty food boutique to experience hand-crafted delights. A celebration of fine craft, art, shopping, food, it’s fun for everyone, with special kids’ activities, too.
