Friday, August 18th- Outdoor Tykes: Bugaboo at 10:30am. Young preK-aged explorers are invited to the park to learn about the wonder of bugs, from the buzz about bees to the ladybug beetle. Meets at the Shaver Pond Nature Center at 10:30am. This is a free program! Pre-register: 279-1155
Saturday, August 19th– Yoga on the Beach at 9:30am. Enjoy this one day yoga class on Grafton’s beach. Rise and shine at Grafton for a stretch under the summer sun with local yoga instructor Rebekah Magin. $5/person, must be at least 16 years old to participate. Bring your own towel or mat. Attendees must pre-register by calling the park office at 518-279-1155. Gate entrance fees refunded if only staying for the program, ask when registering for specifics.
Saturday, August 19th– Sunset Kayak at Grafton Lakes at 6:15pm. Come on out to Grafton Lakes State Park for a near-sunset paddle on Long Pond. We’ll start near the Boat Rental Shack, and learn a little about the history and ecosystems of the lake during our paddle. MUST BRING YOUR OWN KAYAK. Free program and free gate fee if entering the park after 5pm. Sunset is at 7:50pm. Call 279-1155 to reserve your spot, space is limited!
Saturday, August 19th– Family Movie Night at Cherry Plain State Park at 7:45pm. Bring the kids for a free movie on Cherry Plain’s beach, weather permitting. Check out our 16′ screen under the big night sky! We can’t announce title due to licensing restrictions, but movie is rated PG and family-friendly. No tickets or pre-registration required.
Saturday, August 26th – Zumba on the Beach at 9am. Get up and get moving in the sand with local Zumba instructor Daniela Borbon at Grafton Lakes! No experience necessary – just be ready to dance to great music with great people. $8 gate fee refunded if only staying for program, ask for details when pre-registering. $5 program fee. Space is limited! Call 279-1155 to pre-register. Program will begin promptly at 9am so please arrive a few minutes early. Rain date: 8/27
Friday, September 1st– Family Movie Night on the Beach at 8pm. Come to Grafton for a free family-friendly film. We can’t announce the title due to licensing restrictions, but bring your best singing voice… Rain date: Saturday, Sept. 2nd
Saturday, September 2nd – Four Legged Friend Hike at 10am. Join local hiker Stevie Lynn Rodriguez and her sweet Doberman Bulla on a hike in the park! Meets at the north end of beach parking lot and will head out on 2 mile hike. All outings require dogs to be on a six foot leash. Gate fee of $8/vehicle, but program is free.
Monday, September 4th– Labor Day Sand Sculpture Contest at 12pm. Show your creative side in the sand! Prizes for all with an extra goodie for best in category: Kids, Family, Teen and Adult groups welcome. Judging at 2pm and Awards at 3pm.
Friday, September 15th – Star Watch at 7:30pm. Join Albany Area Amateur Astronomers for a free tour of the night sky. Telescopes provided. Cloudy skies may cancel event so call 279-1155 the day of to confirm. Enter park via winter entrance and follow signs to Deerfield Pavilion.
Saturday, September 16th– Love the Lakes Shoreline Cleanup at 10am. You enjoyed the lakes all summer, now give back to keep them beautiful! Scout troops and clubs welcome to attend. Please pre-register: 279-1155.
And save the date… BARK & BREW ON THE BEACH is just over a month away on Saturday, September 23rd! This annual benefit for local animal shelters has dog activities galore, live music, vendors, pet costume contest, plus food and craft beer and cider.
